Pick-4's

Nice day today as I picked the late Pick-4 from Belmont Park twice.
I love the e-mails I received:

"If 2 catches 8 in race 7, we'd have another nice payday! Hit ten cent super in 5th at HW for $ 432. Thank you!"

" Thanks for the PK 4 at Belmont. You are a great capper. Boy I wish I had your magic."

"Had the P4 for $1.00 - $806.  Not to stressful when you have the first four finishers in Leg 4.  Congrats and stay hot.  I really enjoy comparing your picks with mine and we're often very close in our handicapping.  I'm am old fashioned handicapper but have gained great respect for your system over the last few years.I primarily played CD last night (3 races) and today (2 races) and scorched it with four winners including the 17:1 winner of the Debutan today......$30 double and good win and place tickets. My second best day of the year today (after Belmont Stakes day).
Thanks again."

Pick-4's

Yesterday the Pick-4 from Belmont Park was hit twice for $382.00 which makes it four Pick-4's this weekend for $1,027.15.  Had 4 horses going into the last race at Monmouth Park but a huge longshot won the race and spoiled the potential score.... Hoping to continue the trend today....

I have posted the usual Pick-4 suggestions and a "Conditional Pick-4" suggestion for Monmouth Park - Races 9, 10, 11, and 12 today......

Animal Kingdom Arrives At Belmont Park

“He looked great and shipped fine, cool as a cucumber as usual.  He is a very laid-back horse so we wouldn’t expect anything else, really. We are excited for the Belmont. You gotta be here. If you are doing good you’re here. Unfortunately we didn’t win the last one, but we’re looking forward to a rematch [with Shackleford] and there are some other real horses in the race as well.”, said David Rock, assistant trainer to Motion.

Shackleford Confirmed for Belmont Stakes

“As long as he comes out of the work good he will run, I am excited he’s doing so well and coming into the race the right way. I think he’s going to be very competitive. It’s fun to get a rivalry started [with Animal Kingdom], it’s good for racing. I wanted to see him work his normal work, and he did today. I thought he went around there really well and it looked like he did everything the way he was supposed to. I think he will handle the [1 ½ mile] distance.Under the right scenario he will be fine. You would think [he would be on the lead]. He’s been on the lead the last two races. I don’t know who’s going to jump in and try to get in front of him ” said Romans.

Belmont Stakes Trivia

Since 1908 the winningest post position is #1 with 22 winners.
Next are post positions #3 and #5 tied with 13 winners each, then posts #2 and #7 tied with 11 winner each.

The track and stakes record at Belmont for 1 1/2 miles is 2:24 flat set in 1973 by Secretariat.
The fastest in the last 10 years is 2:26 flat for A.P. Indy in 1992 and the slowest is 2:32 for Thunder Gulch in 1995.

The Belmont, first run in 1867, is the oldest of the Triple Crown races and the fourth oldest stakes race in North America. The only ones older are the Phoenix Stakes at Keeneland, the Queen's Plate at Woodbine, and the Travers at Saratoga.

Only two fillies have won the Belmont out of 20 who entered. The winners were:
  • Ruthless -- 1867 (the inaugural running)
  • Tanya -- 1905
Since 1970:
  • 14 Belmont winners led all or most of the way with 6 of these winning in wire to wire fashion
  • 9 winners stalked the early going and were no farther back than 4th or 5th at any point
  • 9 winners came from well off the pace to win.
